10+ AI Tools and Prompts to Improve Your Social Media Strategy
"I get by with a little help from AI" - The Beatles
howdy there, folks! happy FRIDAY (and november 1st wtf)! we’re switching up the upload time and day to keep you on your toes. hope you’re relaxing tonight if you went out to get your halloween on. I personally dislike Halloween, but will always gladly
last sunday, i did my first ever workshop ever at TALEA in Williamsburg presenting to over 120+ amazing founders, soon-to-be founders, consultants, freelancers, and more all about how to build and scale a personal brand. it was my first ever workshop ever and man, what a thrill. i don’t do events a lot, but definitely looking to do more. next up is E-tail in Palm Springs in February so be on the lookout!
anywho, last week was insane in the membrane for all good reasons, but i totally forgot to write this edition. win some, lose some.
so, now that i got a few extra days, i hope you enjoy it more than usual.
this week’s topic might ruffle a few feathers, but its about how you can use AI to power your social media strategy and take some time off your plate whether you’re a solo-founder, team, or work at a larger brand who just is consistently doing 138 things.
this was inspired by how I have been building ChatGPT into my own workflow as i’ve onboarded clients, refined scopes, and truthfully, hit a bit of creative burnout.
so, i’m sharing a checklist of the reasons how you can use ChatGPT to save you time, give you ideas, and make your life easier.
BUT BEFORE WE GET INTO IT…
This newsletter is brought to you by this one Gracie Abrams song that literally is taking over my life in the best way possible.
Get it? Social life, like social media? Ok.
Anyway, if you have never used ChatGPT, then let’s just start there. Let it blow your mind. The more you “talk” to it, the more it’ll learn your own in’s and out’s so that it can understand how you think, how you talk, and more. Scary? Yes, of course. Useful? Insanely.
Here are 4 ways that AI can help you in your social media, influencer, or content strategy:
Efficiency Boost: Time is our most precious resource. With so many tasks demanding our attention—scheduling posts, analyzing engagement metrics, sending out packages, responding to the community—it's easy to get overwhelmed. This is where AI comes in a multitude of ways whether it’s using the AI of tools like Sprout Social to determine the optimal posting times or being able to ask ChatGPT for ways to brief out a specific social concept, help develop different hooks for videos, and more.
Data-Driven Insights: Social media is a treasure trove of data, but sifting through all that information can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. AI allows you to receive vast amounts of data quickly and efficiently, providing insights that can inform your strategies that you may not have even thought of.
Personalization at Scale: Today's consumers expect personalized experiences. AI enables us to analyze user data to tailor content for specific audiences, ensuring we deliver the right message to the right people at the right time. Platforms like Facebook and Instagram offer targeting options based on user behavior, but AI takes it a step further. It can analyze past interactions to predict what types of content a user is most likely to engage with, allowing us to create hyper-targeted campaigns that resonate with our audience on a personal level.
Content Generation: The creative process can feel daunting, especially when deadlines are looming or if you know you’re a small team with limited resources. AI can be a fantastic resource for brainstorming ideas or generating content from hooks to briefs and more. For example, ChatGPT can assist in drafting captions, giving you a headstart creating engaging posts and more. By leveraging AI for the initial creative phase, you can save time and spark new ideas, ultimately enhancing the quality of your content.
Also, something to note is that when we talk about AI it doesn’t always mean using ChatGPT as other tools exist whether it’s making decks, imagery, ads, or the AI within social/content applications that you may already have in your workflow.
Integrating AI into your social media strategy requires more than just adopting new tools and messing around. It’s essential to create a clear strategy for how and when to use AI effectively.
Here are some steps to consider:
1. Identify Your Goals: Before diving into AI, take a moment to define what you hope to achieve. Are you looking to save yourself time in writing copy, content ideation, writing influencer briefs/outreach messages, writing proposals (if you’re a consultant), or even to stay up to date in the industry that you’re in? Clearly outlined goals will help you choose the right AI tools for your needs vs. just wasting time trying to get one that may not work for you to work.
2. Test and Iterate: Just like any marketing strategy, it’s essential to test different approaches and iterate based on what works best. Experiment with various AI tools, track their performance, and refine your strategy accordingly. One tool may work for one team and might not work for another and that can be for a variety of reasons from finances to just not having the team/bandwidth to use it and more.
3. Train Your AI Tools: To get the most out of your AI tools, you’ll need to spend some time training them. I kind of treat my ChatGPT like they are a best friend that I have known forever. Providing context and specific information can help the AI better understand your brand’s voice and goals.
Checklist: Questions to Ask AI
To help you get started with AI tools, here’s a checklist of prompts to use. These questions will assist AI in generating content ideas, performance reports, and more:
Content Ideas:
"What are the trending topics in [your industry] this week?"
"Can you suggest five post ideas that will engage our audience on [platform]?"
“Give me 5 unique angles to discuss [desired topic] on social media [or specific platform].”
“What are some engaging questions to ask my audience about [desired subject]?
Launching a new product, service or feature? → “Suggest some creative and fun ways to introduce [insert product, service, feature] to my followers on [platform]”
"What themes or campaigns have resonated with our audience in the past?"
“Create a week’s worth of engaging social media content for '[insert audience] who has a problem with [the thing they have a problem with]
I love using ChatGPT to repurpose content overall especially for repurposing and recycling content. For example, I actually have ChatGPT break down these newsletter into LinkedIn Posts into Twitter Threads into Tiktok Video concepts.
“Summarize this webinar into a Twitter Thread”
“Turn this newsletter into a 5 part, scripted series for Tiktok that should be around 30-45 seconds long per video”
Performance:
"What metrics should I focus on to evaluate our social media success for [insert specific channel]?"
"Can you analyze our last month’s engagement data and suggest areas for improvement on [insert platform]?"
Community Insights:
"What are common questions our audience [in specific niche] have about [topic]?"
"How can we better segment our audience [across X niches] for personalized content?"
Copywriting:
"Can you turn this testimonial about [product or service] into a few captions for [insert platform]?
"Can you suggest 7 alternative captions for this post that allows it to [insert goal you want for caption]?
General Strategy:
"What are some effective strategies for increasing our followers on [insert platform]?"
"How can we leverage user-generated content to boost engagement on our account?"
"What best practices should we follow for responding to audience comments and messages?"
Remember though that ChatGPT is only effective if you give it enough about yourself to work with. So, just stating what you do or what you focus on helps it get to know you better.
I’m a [business niche/title] looking for some content ideas to engage my audience on [specific social media platform(s)]
My brand/business focuses on [describe your niche/industry] and targets [your target audience].
I’m in need of new content ideas for [a specific campaign - ex. a launch, seasonal promotion, brand awareness]
Can you suggest some unique content concepts that align with my tone and values? I often ask ChatGPT to make something sound “more like me” over time as it learns how I write and speak when I copy and paste posts in.
Influencer Templates:
Prompt example: You are a social media manager for [brand]. You are reaching out to an influencer named [influencer's name] who has a following of [follower count] on [social media platform]. You like their content on [X platform] for [X reasons]. Draft a personalized outreach email that:
Introduces yourself and your brand and what you both do.
Explains why you are reaching out and why you think the influencer is a good fit for your brand.
Provides a brief overview of the collaboration opportunity (timing, finances, etc.)
Offers to provide more information and invites them to discuss further.
AI Tools for Content Creation and Strategy
Note: I have not used all of these tools myself (yet), but after talking to many social + community managers, content creators and more, these were some of the ones that kept popping up.
Jasper: Jasper is designed to help you write high-converting copy, blog posts, and social media content. It includes templates for various content types and uses AI to optimize your writing style based on your brand's voice.
Copy.ai: This tool helps generate ad copies, product descriptions, and social media posts. It offers various templates and allows users to input keywords or phrases to guide the content generation process.
Grammarly: While primarily known for grammar checking, Grammarly offers style suggestions, tone adjustments, and clarity improvements. Its AI can help you refine your writing and ensure it aligns with your intended audience.
Canva Magic Write: Canva’s AI feature allows users to generate copy directly within the design platform. It helps with brainstorming ideas, creating captions, and even drafting presentations.
Otter.ai: This tool automatically transcribes meetings and generates notes without worrying about missing key points, especially if so many content concepts are floating around.
ChatGPT or Perplexity: A versatile language model that can assist in generating ideas, writing copy, answering queries, and even crafting outlines for presentations or articles or even writing breakup texts (lol don’t ask). Perplexity AI is more conversational when it comes to questions and queries, but the primary focus of this tool is information retrieval and research vs. the human dialogue that you may receive from ChatGPT.
Feedhive for content recycling aka bringing it a concept or piece of content across other platforms. Remember, social media is all about working smarter.
Flick for turning content ideas into multiple posts
Archive for their new AI Creator Search (one of my top 3 used platforms)
Icon.me for paid ad creative that allows you to find, copy, and optimize best performers from other brands
Motion for AI scheduling for your day, your tasks, project management and more. Some folks are starting to use this to replace Asana.
AHEAD OF THE TREND:
A quick, snappy ode to the fun things I am seeing online across creators, social and brands. Sometimes, it’s a trend. Sometimes, it’s just a tip I want to share when it comes to marketing. TLDR; it’s just things that are cool.
Influencer/Account of the Week: Hypomotion! If you need an account that will literally just scratch a certain itch in your brain and calm you down, this stop-motion animation does the job. I have been addicted for the last few weeks andit’s always fun to see collaborative posts that are popping up between them and brands like Cava, Happy Egg, Dunkin, Blendjet and more. I would love to know how long it takes to just film one video.
Product of the Week: Ghia’s new Le Fizz! I finally tried it at an event hosted by my friend Delaney last week and it’s fruity, tart, fizzy and perfect for those nights where you want a lil’ somethin’ somethin’ without the alc.
Find of the Week: immi is expanding their tiktok presence with a new account, @immi4lunch, that will compliment their brand account and their well-known @ramenonthestreet account. once again, brands are media companies.
Post of the Week: Brittany Broski (aka Kombucha Girl) x International Delights. International Delights paid for a post on Brittany’s second account to have her promote their Halloween costumes to push folks to Tiktok Shop (which was interesting to me to say the least). The reason I love this is just because it’s such a great reminder that 1) the best ads won’t feel like ads to a creator’s audience and if anything, they’ll scream in the comments how much they love that it’s an ad and that 2) to please give creative control to those you work with. Micromanagement of a creator’s content only pleases you, not their audience.
